There has been considerable discussion over the past few months regarding IPSC Rifle and Shotgun Matches. In discussion with the World Organization, we have learned the following:

1. IPSC is very interested in expanding the Rifle and Shotgun areas of the sport. This is in keeping with the general view that "the more lead downrange the better"

2. IPSC has informed us that IPSC Pistol Certification automatically includes certification in both Rifle and Shotgun for IPSC competition. This certainly applies to our Black Badge Program which is the best in the World.

As a result of many questions from a number of clubs, and some of the other Sections, we confirm the following:

a) Clubs are encouraged to hold Shotgun and Rifle matches.
b) Certified IPSC Officials are qualified to officiate these matches.
c) Black Badge holders who are IPSC members are qualified to compete.

IPSC Central will be issuing a short list of instructions for Course Designers and Officials, that will address some of the differences between these matches and our pistol competitions. This will include an explanation of the divisions involved.
The administration of these matches will be slightly different for the next 2 years.

- All courses of fire should be submitted to IPSC Ontario for approval
- There will be no mission fees required for these matches
Results will be posted on the IPSC Ontario Web Page, and must be submitted in the same way as the pistol match results (by email or disk containing members only).
Members who hold only Rifle and Shotgun certification may continue to participate in those competitions. Pistol certification can only result from successful completion of a Black Badge Course.

Members with this background are invited and encouraged to take an active role in the expansion of this part of our sport. Your knowledge and experience is valuable.

IPSC Ontario will not accept training fees for Rifle and Shotgun (effective 1998) and new membership certification will be based solely on the Black Badge Program.
