ROCourse: RO Course August 6 and 7 at the Barrie Gun Club at Barrie, ON (map)

Start Date: 2016-08-06 Sat

RO Course on August 6th and 7th at the Barrie Gun Club.

This is a two-day course running from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm on both days. Please plan your travel so you can be in the classroom by 8:30 am. Full attendance on both days is required.

They are full days, but we will take plenty of breaks to get you out of your chair. Parts of the class are hands-on and interactive. Becoming a good RO ain't all book learnin'.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Current IPSC Ontario member 18 years of age and older

  • Has been an active IPSC competitor for at least one year

  • Has competed in at least three Level II (or higher) IPSC matches

  • Possesses an RPAL

  • A non-refundable fee of $50 is required to reserve your spot. Course capacity is limited to room capacity, so first paid = first in. When we are full, we stop taking applications.

To register, please follow these 2 easy steps:
    1. EMT $50 to nroi@ipsc-ont.org
    2. Fill in the attached form and scan/email it to nroi@ipsc-ont.org with a subject line of "RO Course", or fax the completed form to 905 883-9463

Once your completed form and your payment are received you will be sent a confirmation email.

This course will be held in the classroom under the clubhouse. There is no shooting required. Please do not bring any firearms or ammunition.

Lunch is not provided, but we won't have time to cut everyone loose to go into town. We will probably arrange to have everyone who is interested pitch-in for pizza delivery. That may or may not appeal to you (not sure how good the local pies are), so please feel free to bring your own lunch and snacks.

    What to bring:

  • A pen

  • Snacks and drinks

  • Your own lunch if you don't want to do the group order thing

  • There is no preparation required per se, but you should read the current rule book if you have one (you will be provided with one at the course), or read the rules online at http://www.ipsc.org/rules/

The purpose of the course is to teach you how to become an IPSC Range Officer. We focus primarily on the Handgun rules, but do cover some Shotgun and Rifle material. With a few obvious rule differences, the Range Officer procedures and skills you will learn at the course are transferable between all three firearm competition types.

If you have any questions, please contact me at ipscmike@ipsc.org.
